Belgian activists protest against unhuman Marocan expulsion

Saturday 8 October a protest action has taken place outside the Moroccan embassy in Brussels.
Some 30 protesters (Belgian, Nigerian and Moroccan) demanded explanation about the inhuman expulsion and dropping in the Sahara of 1000 refugees.
Thursday, the Belgian Refugee activist group VAK (Vluchtelingen Aktie Komittee or Refugee Action Committee) had received an emergency call of the sister of one of the refugees that was dropped in the desert. It was a cry out for help for her brother 'Gentle' who was in a life threatening situation. He claimed that several of the people in his group were dead or dying.
Belgian press was informed and Saturday an action took place outside the Moroccan embassy: ovl.indymedia.org/news/2005/10/7066.php (photo report).
Meanwhile there was constant communication with 'Gentle' who kept his sister and activist informed.
The initial group of 1000 refugees was split Saturday into several smaller groups. One group, some 500 people, was found by Doctors without borders and given treatment.
Another group had found their way to a village and was their being arrested, again, by the Moroccan police.
Currently the situation is that:
- the entire group of survivors is located.
- The Malinise an Senegalese among them will be expatriated under supervision of the, respectively, Malinese and Senegalese ambassador.
- Tomorrow (Monday 10 October) the Spanish minister of foreign affairs will meet the Moroccan authorities and the ambassadors of the African countries who have compatriots involved in this humanitarian drama.
We hope strongly that this will bring an outcome for their situation.
Belgian activist will follow the events.
